First Survey- “Surrogacy Legalization Survey”

Recently, the debate on the legalization of “surrogacy” has taken place in Taiwan. The discussion on using assisted reproductive technology (ART) has expanded from heterosexual couples to include single women, lesbian couples, gay couples, and surrogacy. To understand the public’s knowledge and attitudes toward this issue, the first survey was conducted from 9:00 PM on December 17, 2023, to 9:00 PM on January 1, 2024, lasting a total of 15 days. The survey collected 7,780 valid responses.

11.3% supported the legalization of surrogacy, while 82.1% opposed it.

15.7% supported allowing single individuals and same-sex couples to use donated sperm and eggs for ART, while 73.5% opposed it.
